In this animated musical, Spot (Nathan Lane) is a snarky blue-furred dog whose greatest desire is to be transformed into a human, and who already dons a human costume so he can pose as a student at a local school. Opportunity strikes when he sees a television commercial in which Doctor Krank (Kelsey Grammer) claims to be able to turn animals into humans. However, when the experiment goes wrong, Spot must enlist the help of his owner, Leonard Helperman.

This is how it’s done; a classic example of the weird stuff that Michael Eisner let slip through the cracks during his last days at Disney, and certainly more off-brand and delightfully crude than anything Bob Iger would let happen. TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 8 hrs ago Teacher’s Pet is one of those Disney movies that tries to build on the success of a television series, but sometimes a TV show doesn’t translate well into a feature film, and this is one of them. I didn’t hate it, but I found it completely forgettable. The only thing that really sticks with you is the dog, mostly because of its connection to the television show. I felt the screenplay could have been written much better and developed into something more entertaining instead of feeling like a generic continuation of the series. I needed more. I needed to feel like there was something to lose or something to gain, but the movie never really created that feeling or gave the story enough weight. Overall, it’s fine for what it is, but it doesn’t hold up well with today’s entertainment. It feels like something people will revisit for nostalgia or simply put on in the background.
