The British have a tendency to hide there best landscapes, purely for selfish and environmental reasons of course. This film gives a glimpse at that hidden landscape and the characters that protect it with gusto. The script is hard with attention to detail brings the characters alive in a way that only the English can. Twitchers are examined intimately in this movie. Nibbles: Shrimp Paste Sandwiches.

Very enjoyable two-hander. Well acted. Watched it twice already.

Brilliantly acted and good twist but seems like it would work better on stage

Tense drama between what appears to be a harmless bird watching, trainspotting type of character and criminal on the run. The dialogue between them expresses their completely differing lifestyles while being interesting especially on the eccentric ornithological subject. An unexpected twist 3 quarters into the movie takes me totally by surprise as i thought the movie was to end up finishing nowhere as a simple play about relationships made into a movie. Gripping

Joseph Losey's grandson economically directs a Pinteresque play with McQueen (from The Thick Of It, In The Loop and 4 Lions) showing range in an extremely dark role he is reprising from the stage version. The dialogue, adapted by the author, at first neatly circumnavigates the disturbingly personal issues plaguing each man rather than elaborating a ton of flabby backstory. The usual criticism of staginess could be leveled against the first act, as the meager action and larger camera movements are relegated to the last act. However, given that the intended effect is one of psych. horror as the repressed crimes resurface - the modest start sets the scene well for the rest. The ending is a contrast, with an element of role reversal and twisted expectation pleasant to see from a Losey - while not being overtly commercial in presenting simple, redemptive violence as a sop to the cinema audience. A very promising first film, well worth a watch and tabs kept on those involved.

Loved it. The whole film on one small set! If you make it through the first half of the film without falling asleep or turning it off, you'll find the narrative is in fact quite deep. However, the idea is far from original! Great performance by both actors.

Nicely shot but very sparse plot that ended up making the film overlong. Also it's shot entirely in one location. The whole film could've been cut down to 30 minutes which would have made it more exciting.

film revolving around 2 terrific performances, alex macqueen as the lonely bird spotter, and phil campbell as the criminal, when the criminal ends up in birdwatchers hide, a supposed friendship forms, but also tension, a well made charactor piece with a third act twist that works well, a lot is used with location and situation, and sustains throughout. some solid talk and banter between two making this film a good watch

Small budget yet intriguing thriller. The script has a kind of urban myth feel in its twist.
