Audience Reviews for The Snow Queen

The Snow Queen is a loyal adaptation of the fairy tale and has the unique twist of the boy being the damsel in distress. Yet the film lacks a building narrative and climax and will fail to engage anyone but the big animation buffs.

Miyazaki cites this as his favorite film, and it's easy to see why--not only is it one of the best animated movies ever, it's got a distinctly Miyazaki-ian flavor to it with its picaresque fantasy and gloriously redemptive ending. One of the most beautiful films ever.
