Movie Info

The Spaghetti West documents the film genre referred to as Spaghetti Westerns. These movies were made in Italy, where production costs were very cheap and the terrain offered perfectly believable sets, during the 1950s and '60s. While Sergio Leone became the most well-known director that made his bones in the genre, a number of famous film personalities such as Clint Eastwood and Ennio Morricone established themselves in these Westerns. The film utilizes clips of some of the most famous spaghetti westerns, as well as interviews with those who made the films and those who have been inspired by these sparse, stylish movies.

Audience Reviews for The Spaghetti West

Short and sweet documentary on the large outpour of westerns made by Italian studios in the 60's and 70's. Goes in depth and differs from similar material by taking about more than just the Leone/Eastwood films. Goes through the landmark films, actors, and directors good but should have been quite a bit longer.

This documentary of spaghetti, I'm sorry ITALIAN westerns has some interesting back stories and a couple of interesting interview segments, but for a half-assed fan of the genre this was just okay for me even if it did add a few movies to my want to see list. But I was disappointed that Fistful of Dynamite was not mentioned.
