Movie Info

A group of high school outcasts finally get even, but soon decide mere revenge is not enough in this supernatural horror film. Four teenagers who have long been the butt of jokes at their high school discover a strange and mysterious stone in the woods, which gives them mental and physical powers beyond those of ordinary people. Not surprisingly, the kids begin using their new skills to even the score with the bullies who have been making their lives miserable for years, but one of the teens begins going further than playing cruel but harmless pranks. Soon the kids realize their new powers could make them a force to be reckoned with, and their ambitions go beyond being the cool kids at school to running their town -- or perhaps the world. Also released as The Source, The Surge features Alice Frank, Mathew Scollon, Edward Deruiter, and Melissa Renee Martin.

Take a perfectly good premise, hand it to the Asylum, and watch how wrong it all goes.

Audience Reviews for The Surge

This was surprisingly very good. If you like Charly or the first Lawnmower Man then you've got to check this out. Soundtrack was a plus. The only things keeping this from being a 5 star was the method of power acquisition. C'mon, power crystals? The fact that each character acquired powers based on their personalities helped the plot lines. Some of the acting was a little weak but not overly bad to detract from the story. Dialogue could have also used a little work but overall the story was great. Remember kids: With great power comes great responsibility and power can corrupt but it was nice seeing some justice dished out like in Revenge of the Nerds.

I know this movie is pretty bad, but I still enjoy it. It's like a flip side of "The Faculty" meets some B-movie about a group of super-heroes who were pulled straight from the high school in "Jawbreaker". The first 20 minutes will either pull you in or make you shut it off. Trust your instincts either way.

So beyond crappy and silly that it's amazing. What if the gothy outcasts from school got superpwoers? They go crazy wreaking havoc and revenge, and then they show off exactly how amplified their emo powers are.
