Very good adaption of the book. Although on the face of it it gives a pretty poor indictment of the human race, it is only by looking at what went wrong in the twentieth century (in the way this book/dvd has) that we can avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

Solid documentary counterpart to the book Ferguson published in 2006. Although I disagree with some of his arguments--namely that the Western Front countries changed very little after WWI--his biggest argument, that conflict in the 20th century depended on race, not class--is interesting and threaded well in this 3-hour doc. Also very interesting is his mix of old footage & contemporary scenes shot on old battlefields and historic sites in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
