... it's no Academy award winner but I believe it deserves higher ratings then I have seen .. Corman did a superb job directing .. and William Campbell does a solid acting job ..

Roger Corman directs this rather boring film about auto racers in the Grand Prix in Monaco. It doesn't come off like Corman put much effort into this one, or that he really cared. I get the impression he was just making a movie to make a movie, and was able to use the Grand Prix location, and maybe some he took advantage of that. The acting is stiff, and the movie isn't goofy enough to enjoy in a so bad its good kind of way. Plenty of more enjoyable Corman Classics to go for before I'd watch this.

This is really just another stupid romance movie, but with the main characters being race car drivers. It's really boring unless you really enjoy watching car racing and think that should be combined with a romance movie.

Ok, this was really soap operaish! Not the best but not the worst either. Good story line about a womanizing race car driver and a scorned man. Good tale about friendship and just when you think there's impending doom, a happy ending emerges.

One of director Roger Corman's more wretched attempts at cinema. Don't let the poster fool you - this is an extremely boring would-be character study of a chauvinistic race car driver, replete with dreadful dialogue and wooden acting.
The only interesting aspects of this film are the racing footage which was shot during actual European races, the fact that Francis Ford Coppola (who recorded the sound on the picture and has a brief uncredited cameo) managed to make his feature debut, Dementia 13, in Ireland during a break in production, and that all of co-star Mark Damon's dialogue was dubbed over by a then-unknown William Shatner.
But interesting bits of trivia still cannot save this dull movie. Give Jack Hill's terrific Pit Stop a try instead.

It's pretty light on the steamy romance and action packed racing that the cover promises.

I can't stand auto racing. That said, movies about auto racing are usually pretty good. This one, was shit. One of the most boring melodrama's you will lay your eye's on. Hard core race fans might get a kick out of 1963 era F1 cars racing on the actual Grand Prix tracks, but I could give a shit with not enough racing and to much "rivals on the track and with the girl they love" bullshit.
