The plants and other things will survive but human's won't see it See more 05/15/2021 In my opinion the movie properly explains the cause and effect of climate change. Not only does it explain the dangers of the problem, but also what to do to be able to reduce or reverse the effects which fossil-fuels bring. I'd give the movie around a 3.5/5 stars because not only is it informative, it is also an enjoyable documentary to watch. It tracks the collective effect that has resulted from these actions on the life systems and makes the call for intervention by reshaping how we think/act through technology, social responsibility, and conservation. One of the many environmental messages in this documentary is the call for action to help reverse the effects/ slow down human-caused climate change. A suggestion of change that the film makes to combat this is switching over to wind energy from fossil fuels since it is an emissions-free source of energy and cheaper. Additionally, the 11th Hour talks about the effects caused by industrialization. One of the impacts of industrialization is the startling amount of loss of biodiversity. As David Suzuki mentions in the film, "over the past 3.8 to 4 billion years, 99.9999% of all species that ever existed are extinct.". The film says that even though humans are considered to be an "infant species," our actions are causing the loss of 50,000‐55,000 species per year. Furthermore, the film encourages viewers to live more frugally and treat life with more humility and respect. Some examples of this include: disengaging from consumerism, buying locally, and to eradicate the ideology of limitless expansion. The 11th Hour is an excellent documentary that raises awareness of these and many more environmental issues, which is essential if we as a society are going to change our ways. See more 04/20/2018 Very absorbing, informative - kinda agitating/disturbing but in a positive way - documentary. It tells a scary story of what humans have done to the planet and what the prospects are. It's not good. But it's good to know. It's not a particularly electrifying presentation - mainly just people talking - mostly from the American perspective - which is fine because they are the ones with the most sucking to deal with.
