Takes a micro rather than a macro look at racism in America, (but) avoids many of the pitfalls that Green Book fell into.

While it too often lacks the courage to follow through on its convictions, the film is stirring and heartfelt enough to get the point across.

"The Best of Enemies" not only has two of my favorite actors in the lead roles, but their performances are spot-on without being caricatures.

Enough of the film works -- even when it's as predictable as they come -- that you'll likely be okay going along for the ride down this familiar path. (Full Content Review for Parents - Violence, Profanity, etc. - also Available)

By the end, it really pulled off what it needed to, and had that emotional punch.

A trip into a past-not a distant past, less than 50 years, but one that is increasingly unrecognizable-and an artful reminder of the possibilities of change.

It's exactly what you expect without, well, being exactly what you expect.

Comparisons will inevitably be made to Green Book for its upbeat vibe, but in terms of serious craft and admirable aspirations, this film is more in the league of 42 and Selma.

With the evolving relationship between Rockwell and Henson in the driver seat, it's hard to resist the sentiment of what "The Best of Enemies" puts together.

The Best of Enemies is a lesson in empathy-listening to and understanding your enemies...whomever they may be, whether political or personal.

Atwater and Ellis's personal development is superficial but at least the movie doesn't drag the actors through trendy cynicism. Bissell and his performers admirably sentimentalize a small but historic accord.

Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell are exceptional in this film based on the true story.

Award worthy acting by Rockwell and Henson makes this movie soar. The right story for the right time.

...a good tale. Rockwell gives a fine performance, but Henson's is the one you remember.

Terrific performances by Rockwell, an extremely convincing bigoted good-old-boy, and Henson, who throws her all into the character, take the film to another level.

Robin Bissell, who has spent most of his career producing movies, makes his directorial debut. He smartly relies on his actors to carry the day.

The film travels such an obvious path and falls into such a predictable rhythm, it doesn't quite carry the emotional resonance such a powerful true-life story should convey.

The friendship of Atwater and C.P. and what they accomplished sounds too pat to be real. But it plays as real, and if you want a film with a satisfyingly happy ending, this one is for you.
