Movie Info

A family crisis forces a man to reevaluate his personal problems in this drama from Poland. Jerzy (Piotr Bajor) is a well-known author who has found himself unable to put words to paper. Hoping for inspiration, he moves from Gdansk to the country, with his wife Maria (Aleksandra Justa) and young son Jasiek (Krzysztof Lis) in tow. However, the change in scenery does little to awaken Jerzy's muse, and when the move adversely affects Maria's career as a photographer, their marriage begins to suffer. When doctors inform the couple that Jasiek has fallen ill and surgery is required to restore him to health, Jerzy accompanies the boy to Gdansk, hoping to spend a day with his son before his date with the doctors. Chlopiec na Galopujacym Koniu (aka The Boy On The Galloping Horse) was the first feature film from writer and director Adam Guzinski.

Luminous monochrome lensing, sparse note-by-note piano music and a general atmosphere of pious solemnity can't disguise fact that Polish drama The Boy on the Galloping Horse plays like an overstretched short.
