This movie is good for all ages. Guys will also like it because although it is a sensitive film, it is not a tear-jerker or a "chick flick"- it's just a nice film written about real people. Hollywood would greatly benefit by learning from this movie's example. Very thankful that run into the movie using boxxy software.
By the way, DON'T turn off the film when the final credits start to roll. Watch and listen - it's an adorable way to end a wonderful film.

Reviewed 6.3.18 With a touch as light as it's eponymous star, it flails around prettily, but lands on nothing significant. Old man Julien and runaway Elsa exchange cutesy banter amidst some truly beautiful countryside (note to self: add the Vercors Massif range to any future French adventure). But despite their best efforts it's an uneven affair, where emotional heft proves more elusive than the rare 'Isabella' they pursue.

As sweet as it is imaginative, The Butterfly is a heartfelt and entertaining drama that gets viewers to relate to both of the main characters.

A tender & touching film of a young girl from a distracted mother & her unlikely friendship with elderly gentleman who is a Butterfly enthusiast who is searching for a rare butterfly.

He is cunningly convinced that the little has no family & he reluctantly takes her on his Outdoor Trip in search for the Butterfly.

Their relationship blossoms like the Butterfly itself & the beautiful lies in the French Scenery & their Tender Relationship. A light nice film that is a pleasure to watch.

A Warm-hearting movie... It became one of my favorites, I don't like to re-read books or re-watch movies. But this one sure worth the exception.

It is an adorable movie. It is about a very sensitive, and smart girl. She receives attention from her neighbor, an old and lonely man. She pushes him to take her to his adventure at the same time that she send a distress message to her mother.

A wonderfully endearing film. The two main characters are brilliant, effective and adorable. The film maker manages to take a story that could be syrupy sweet and "hollywoodish," and keeps it real and very engaging. I don't know that I would necessarily call it a children's film, but there isn't much that's objectionable for kids, with the possible exception of topics related to a semi-delinquent parent, but those topics are handled very well. The story is largely about a neglected girl and a lonely man who find that they have something rewarding and fulfilling to offer each other. It's delightful!

Sweet story of an old man and a little girl who learn a lot from each other as their relationship develops. Some plot points are kind of glossed over (the mother is never held accountable for neglecting her child and the old man doesn't even receive a slap on the wrist for taking a minor on a trip without contacting her parent). The scenery is gorgeous and the girl who plays Elsa is a natural and enchanting little actress.

Overall a very lazy movie. The script is tugged safely in the Disney formula full of artificial sweetener. Here are some major problems: (1) The cliched storyline and stereotypical characters (grumpy old man befriends innocent girl both lonely with "love issues"). (2) The entire journey is unadventurous and unexciting. Minimal character and relationship development. (3) The underlying moral preaching (eg anti-abortion). (4) The happy ending is both perfunctory and corny. Mind you, what do you expect from such a predictable "little cute sweet" film?

Delightfully unexpected invigorating refreshment! A movie with substance, heart and love for life... and we need so little to have all of that! I enjoyed every second of it!
