Movie Info

Six years have passed, and Lebanese-Australian John Morkos (George Basha) remains haunted by the events that led to the death of his brother. As John begins to rebuild his life, he finds solace in the boxing ring at his local gymnasium. Meanwhile, tensions are building on the streets of western Sydney, as a ruthless new crime boss Nas (Johnny Nasser) seeks to expand his empire, and the formation of a radical group of white supremacists threatens to shatter the social fabric of the local community. When the gym becomes a focal point of these gathering forces, and the threats begin to escalate, John must come to terms with his past, make the right choices, and take a stand against overwhelming odds. Sometimes you've got to fight for what's right.

Critic Reviews for The Combination Redemption

All Critics (5) | Top Critics (2) | Fresh (3) | Rotten (2)

  • In The Combination Redemption the drama sometimes feels flaky and the ideologies of the film-makers confused.

  • Many of the film's problems could have been solved with more money and time, but not all of them. As well as a better title, the film needed another draft, a tougher edit and a longer gestation.

  • Redemption continues in the tradition of its predecessor and prestige TV like East-West 101, provoking the audience with disenfranchised second-generation hostility, honest portrayals of ongoing racial tension and Field's texture of decaying suburbia.

    Sep 16, 2019 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…
  • Replete with swearing and a generous splattering of blood, Field - best-known as the hard-faced actor from Chopper and Two Hands - does a solid job compressing a grab-bag of storylines, including a slightly superflous romance, into a cohesive crime-drama.

    Feb 8, 2019 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…
  • The strength of both the Combination films is that in John, Basha and Field have created a positive character, a role model who stands up against racism, intolerance and crime.
