You don't have to be a dad to enjoy the visceral thrills of a Liam Neeson action movie, but it certainly helps if you suffer from the same American middle class insecurities as The Commuter's Michael.

There are much better movies that more or less do the same thing, and while it's not a fully satisfying meal, if you're in the mood for the cinematic equivalent of a salty snack full of empty calories, you can do worse than "The Commuter."

A fairly exciting and tension-filled romp through a diverse cast of mostly unknown actors, all of whom get to shine to varying degrees.

The Commuter is much less concerned with staging brawls than it is with trying to spin a taut, ticking time bomb thriller, and for the most part it's quite successful.

It is not that there are no moments of implausible action, but the truth is that they are much more dosed, and therefore, it is a more complete spectacle. [Full Review in Spanish]

It is a good option for those who want to go to the movies, buy some popcorn and hang out without complications. [Full Review in Spanish]

The identity of the "surprise" villain was obvious before the script was even written. But Liam Neeson's committed performance provides a strong center to an increasingly outlandish storyline.

Neeson stands up for the little guy, and no other filmmaker gets that quite like Collet-Serra, who boldly embraces that working man fantasy with a sly wink.

A fun, yet disposable, movie that does feel like other Liam Neeson thrillers.

Neeson is great in the role and it never got too silly.

The Commuter isn't a good movie. But it's precisely the sort of elevated B-movie fare that has become a hallmark of the action landscape.

There's almost no tension. It plays like several different genre movies one after the other. And that guy who scares the hell out of you on the train, ignoring all your leave-me-alone signals? Well that's the hero. But yes, I did enjoy "The Commuter".

Gets the job done, doesn't overstay its welcome and has some fun, ambitious small-scale setpieces.

The film fits a familiar mould but at least it attempts to visually stand out from the crowd.

All the elements have been done before and much better in other films, but thankfully there's a lack of pretension. The Commuter knows what it is and never becomes self-important nor takes itself too seriously, which helps a lot with the fun factor.

[Liam] Neeson makes Michael a more sympathetic and clickable soul than the script demands, a warrior still worth rooting for when he stumbles into the Hudson Line's fight club.

The Commuter is entertaining and a worthwhile watch when so few of its ilk are at this time of year. It simply doesn't do anything new or necessarily inventive.
