      The County Reviews

It's a small but mighty movie, and one that I found satisfying.

The County is at its best when it centers Egilsdóttir's nuanced performance.

Even with some strangely perfunctory plot pivots and an abruptly unsatisfying ending, "The County" benefits from Egilsdottir's central performance, which is both delicate and imposingly stalwart.

If The County were just a beautifully judged account of one woman drawing a line in the snow, that much would be welcome. But there is more to chew on here - the logic of globalism, the lure of protectionism. All that and Stjórnin too.

      Full Review | Original Score: 4/5 | May 20, 2020

Grímur Hákonarson has done it again, he has taken a subject very foreign to most and made us truly care about it. Which, let's face it, is no mean feat.

"The County" is full of feisty female energy and imagery, and sprinkled with rousing "you go girl!" comic moments.
