Maguire, given the chance to play "a dirty philanderer" and "a cheating, cat-killing liar," wrings every laugh he can out of this character. He may not be Spider-Man any longer, but his bug eyes never let him down.

[A] provocatively acrid adult comedy of lies, deceits, and a touch of murder.

As if to justify its own title, The Details is familiar in its plotting but uproarious in its incidents.

A character study with rougher edges [than Flight] and more to say than, 'It's difficult but important to admit when you have a problem.'

It's more interested in admiring its own architecture than building something worth residing in.

The perpetrators and victims here are all such smug, dull caricatures that none of the intended satirical barbs have anywhere to land.

This attempt at black comedy is so busy twisting through its plot that it barely has time for its characters.

Maguire reveals most of his shortcomings as an actor here. Whenever he shares a scene with someone as solid as Banks, Linney or Haysbert, it's as if he disappears.

The Details is as smug and self-satisfied as its privileged lead character.

Jacob Aaron Estes has made a plucky movie that challenges its audience to examine their own less than ethical behaviors. Just as it is in life, it's all fun and games until someone looses their household.

Imagine the marital turbulence depicted in 'Revolutionary Road' multiplied by ten and treated as a dark comedy. That gives you some idea of what you're in for with this disturbingly funny film.

A solid black comedy, with scene stealing performances from Laura Linney, and Ray Liotta.
