This film is duller than desert ditchwater, and is well worth driving away from, at speed. Go to Full Review

The resolution is quite clever if a little under-developed, the cinematography is superb for a low budget feature and the film works to create a sense of tension and unease rather than full-blooded horror (there’s nothing gory or unpleasant here). Go to Full Review
Chris Ward Flickering Myth 03/01/2023
As long as you don’t in expecting terror on the highways on the same level as The Hitcher – and let’s face it, there aren’t many movies that can make that claim – then The Fearway is a not-entirely-unpleasant road trip through the American desert. Go to Full Review

As a rule it’s a good thing when filmmakers are prepared to push their limits, but if you’re going to take it this far, you need, at the very least, to be in control of the laughs. Go to Full Review

Hickman, Justin Gordon, Jessica Gray, Briahn Auguillard, James Politano, Robin Bookhout, Heather Rozzo Where To Watch: Released digitally in the UK on February 13, 2023 RAVING REVIEW: Get ready for a journey into the unknown as the roads of THE FEARWAY beckon to be explored by those daring enough to take on its terrors. Director Robert Gajic has a familiar entry into his feature-length debut with a film that seems remarkably similar to something I've seen just in the last year to the point I feel like I have Deja Vu. A young couple's road trip is suddenly disrupted by a mysterious entity that begins to hound and torment them. In their desperate search for help, they turn to anyone they can find, but who can they trust in this strange world? Will they make it out alive, or will death come knocking at their door? Brace yourself for THE FEARWAY – a white-knuckle ride that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The film follows the adventures of a young couple driving through the American southwest desert (I've heard this before.) After a harrowing encounter on the road (again, this sounds familiar,) they find themselves pursued by a menacing black muscle car. In a bid for safety, they take refuge in a rest stop diner (yep, checking all the boxes) only to find the locals acting peculiar and the sun never sets. They soon realize that they have entered a surreal realm where time operates differently (okay, now this is a little different from what I've previously experienced.) THE FEARWAY draws inspiration from classic horror films reminiscent of The Twilight Zone. Despite its stunning cinematography and impressive production design, the central couple needs more dialogue that gives their characters a deeper meaning. Gajic's approach brings a unique touch to the film, creating a visually appealing film from the desert landscape. The storyline is engaging, but a few pieces still need to be included. THE FEARWAY may not live up to its full potential, but it remains a thrilling experience, thanks to its heart-pumping action. I will give credit where credit is due; one of the worst things a horror film can do is work outside of its budget; that is never an issue here, with solid practical effects throughout the movie. This is in the horror genre, but the film tackles the horror elements in a toned-down way to keep the whole movie grounded.
