Flat and lifeless, not even the odd object promised by its unlikely cast, who play it straight and with little energy.

By no means is the flick terrible, it's just very bland and lacks any sort of thrilling aspects that one would come to expect from a 'thriller.'

This low-budget thriller looks more expensive than it is with its imaginative use of set, like the spooky amusement park and, outstandingly, the titular cornfields.

...no higher compliment could be paid "The Fields" than its constant recollection of the Spanish masterpiece "Spirit of the Beehive"...

Audience Reviews for The Fields

slow, confused, and pretentious does not make a film "artistic" or "deep", it just makes it slow, confused, and pretentious.

The film is best at recreating the atmosphere--using sounds, lighting, characters who are slightly off--from the boy's point of view, how things that are darkly odd can become downright scarringly freaky to a sensitive child. Unfortunately, the film itself fails to hang together satisfactorily.

This movie moved so slow I fast forwarded to the end wondering if anything ever actually happens... A guy hung himself from the rafters in a barn. I suddenly realized I was standing in a chair with a thick rope in my hands... fast forward saved my life ( at least an hour or so of it )
