The Happytime Murders makes that musical look like a Saturday morning cartoon. The level of raunchiness, language and overall tone is off the charts. I kinda loved it!!!

[Happytime Murders] is a weird, goofy, dirty-as-heck comedy. It is unabashedly silly and unapologetically foul. It is broad and base and is content to aim low. And if you've got a certain sort of sense of humor, it is a whole lot of fun.

It's refreshing to once again see a lowbrow comedy that can [simply] be lowbrow without declaring itself a hero just for existing.

A fun combination of live-action and puppets, "The Happytime Murders" is an outrageously raunchy look at what life may have been like on a certain "Street" if that show had taken place in the worse part of the worse town ever.

Henson and company attempted something different here. It didn't always succeed, but enough of it works to warrant a mild recommendation...

There's plenty to laugh at and indulge in The Happytime Murders and I think the voice-work by Barretta is a sensational highlight. Proving there's a solid comedy lurking beneath a script that struggles to find beats and moments when necessary.

Filthy, funny, far-out and from the seedy side of the street.

McCarthy is still great, and the human cast is supported by the brilliant and unappreciated Maya Rudolph, and the talented and subtle Elizabeth Banks. [Full review in Spanish]

Where The Happytime Murders excels is in its humour, because it's very, very funny. But more than that, it's filthy. Utterly, gloriously, unapologetically, deeply, darkly, sexually filthy.

The connoisseur of filth within me is pleased to report how wonderfully nasty much of the felted proceedings here are to behold.

Is it great cinema that we will hear about during Oscar season? Absolutely not. Is it fun, embarrassingly so? Yes. It pushes the envelope and a few buttons, but that's exactly what it promised to do..

You can get into characters' livelihood and forget that it's not a real person...the special effects were really seamless.

The puppet work is brilliant, the jokes (however tasteless) are often funny, and McCarthy and Barretta have a strong chemistry.

It's an above-average, one-viewing wonder that at least manages to be more than a one-joke movie.

The Happytime Murders delivers everything it promises: it's rude, fun and silly. [Full Review in Spanish]

Put it this way: McCarthy is virtually a nun next to these X-rated puppets and she's still her usual bawdy self. Prepare to be shocked.

If the appealing, strictly for adults, premise runs out of steam, the film still delivers lots of silly wisecracks, absurd, potty-mouthed humour, bodily fluids and detailed world-building.

It works as a 1980s-style buddy-cop movie, a love letter to that style. I was eating it up on that level as well.

The film is raunchy. It amounts to 90 minutes of profane, DNA-spewing nastiness with very little story to redeem it. I'm pretty sure that's the point.

Perhaps the funniest tribute to Paul Verhoeven that has ever been shot. [Full Review in Spanish]
