This film is great on many levels, from entertainment to technical. Clooney has made with The Ides of March the post honeymoon period of the Obama era film.

Altogether, Ides of March is a very neat package. Eye candy aside, smart yourself up in this feature.

It is suspenseful, engaging and interesting, if not exactly a pleasure to watch.

A smart, engaging October drama that feels completely of the moment, as if its fingers are directly on the pulse of our political climate.

This is a fascinating look at politics, with Clooney making the most out of a strong, and very talented, cast... I just wish Clooney could have found another way to get to his desired destination.

[The Ides of March] is very playlike: It's based on the stage show Farragut North by Beau Willimon. But that feeling doesn't harm the film, as Clooney stages all the confrontations -- the movie is full of them -- with a deft hand.

The Ides of March may not cover any new ground in its exploration of the shadier side of American politics, but it's nevertheless an enjoyable journey down the campaign trail.

Surprisingly effective for such a by-the-numbers political drama.

A topical, intelligent and compelling affair.

In all, The Ides of March is watchable, but not a must-see.

As a director, [George Clooney] has never been more self assured, giving this political morality play the pacing of a gut-wrenching thriller.

Real shame about the ending, but the rest of the movie is just marvelous.
July 13, 2016
A well-told tale of filthy politics and betrayal; a virtuoso hat trick (writing, directing, and starring) by George Clooney. It almost makes you wish he'd stop acting and run for office.
May 12, 2015
Why is this sleek, well-crafted movie almost impossble to get excited about?
June 30, 2013
A brilliant political thriller about strategy, loyalty and idealism that is willing to unmask candidates who build their campaigns on slogans, not policies.
June 22, 2013
Well-produced and well-acted middlebrow entertainment, a political "expose" that will shock only pearl-clutchers and naive dopes.
April 5, 2013
A gripping, political thriller packed with tremendous performances and supremely confident direction by George Clooney.
