The Story of James Bond is a short documentary that recounts The Bond legacy right up to The World is Enough. As a fan of the franchise, I enjoyed this short hour long documentary, but I felt that it wasn't an in depth documentary. The interviews were well done, and insightful. However it is far from the definitive documentary film on James Bond. I feel that the franchise, due to its legacy deserves a more comprehensive documentary with the filmmakers, casts, fans, historians and experts on the subjects. The Story of James Bond is good for what it is, but the definitive story of Bond has yet to be made. I've never heard of a thorough picture that chronicles everything that the fans would love to see, now 50 years since the release of the first Bond movie, I think that the fans deserves such a documentary. The films biggest problem is that it's too short, thus it compresses a lot into one hour, which of course leaves a lot out. Worth a watch if you love the movies, but don't expect anything great. This is average, even though it's insightful. At the time this was made, Pierce Brosnan was still in the role. Now with Daniel Craig, firing on all cylinders, I think that a filmmaker should document the complete story of Bond, from its conception from Ian Fleming's 1953 novel Casino Royale to the interest of Albert Broccoli to make the books into a film franchise to now with the latest entry in the Bond franchise Skyfall. I enjoyed this short documentary, but it only touches on key aspects of the movies, and it's not a complete work on the James Bond franchise. Good, but it's nothing great.
An encyclopedia of James Bond, up to "The World is Not Enough". A nice summary of the Bond eras, villains, women, chases, gadgets and supporting characters.
