It forgoes the crackling pace, light touch and surprisingly sophisticated sexual banter of the original, opting for melancholy, ominousness and sentimentality.

The result is entertaining without either dethroning Hitchcock's 1938 film or embarrassing itself.

Audience Reviews for The Lady Vanishes

Good, suspenseful drama. Particularly worth mentioning is the idea of the passengers treating Iris like a hysterical woman and how her role as the protagonist shines with a feminist light.
