09/25/2019 Great. Really touched me. Made me think deeply about life and death. See more 08/08/2019 Kara Tippetts shows us how to live, but perhaps more importantly, how to die. A statement from her personal vlog/diary opens this documentary and shakes my world: "Why do we withhold love from one another? Why?" And this question she poses sums up the theme of this documentary and the mission of Kara Tippetts: Life Is Short: Love One Another. It is clear that Kara Tippetts draws her strength from her relationship with Jesus Christ. This is her story and Jesus is unavoidable--perhaps to the chagrin of non-Christian viewers. This documentary handles her story, faith and character sensitively without sermonizing, gently balancing the tragedy of her situation with the hope and example it created within Kara and her family. The tone struck is self-effacing and disarming. Never was a moment "forced" to produce emotion. Everything is matter-of-fact. I viewed this documentary moved but not devastated, broken yet encouraged. It was what happened to me in the weeks and months AFTER watching this documentary that points to its quiet relevance. I can not get Kara and her husband and children out of my mind. I find myself tearing up NOW, rather than during the viewing. And perhaps that is exactly the goal of both Kara and the makers of this documentary--her faith in Christ is an encouragement in OUR lives, to be applied IN us, as we walk each day one step at time.
