Movie Info

In the tradition of such psychologically-charged sci-fi outings as The Next One (1982) and K-PAX (2001) comes the cerebral science fiction opus The Man From Earth (2007). The story concerns Professor John Oldman, a scientist who summons a group of associates to a cabin one freezing night, and strikes them with a fantastic revelation: he is not a traditional human, but a 14,000 year-old immortal, who has survived centuries of evolution from the Cro-Magnon Era to the present. In the hours to follow, Professor Oldman's earth-shaking assertion about himself challenges the men on spiritual, scientific and historical levels. But the most incredible is yet to come - an even more astonishing truth in which the men's discussions culminate.

Very probably will be one of the best science fiction films of this decade. It really deserves to be seen.

It's that rare film that rewards inquisitiveness.

Audience Reviews for The Man From Earth

It is always interesting to see a science fiction film centered on constant dialogue, even if it never reaches the full potential of its fascinating idea and remains somewhat obvious, with also unlikable characters. Besides, the acting is not very good either.

December 23, 2010 I'd nothing else worthwhile to do, so I went for this flick. Generally, I don't like movies that include only conversations for most of its part. However, I found this one kinda unique & was interested in the conversations till the very end. It was quite offbeat, but I liked it reasonably well. All the actors were new to me, but everyone played their part well (after all, there was not much scope for acting since majority of the movie comprised of conversations).
