Movie Info

Two brothers unexpectedly become involved in the same crime in this offbeat comedy-drama from Japanese filmmaker Nobushita Yamashita. Kotaro Suzuki (Hirofumi Arai) is a cop in the tiny town of Matsugane, while his twin brother Hiraki Suzuki (Takashi Yamanaka) is a nitwit who has a habit of getting himself into situations he can't get out of on his own. One day, a thief who stashed the booty from a major robbery in a snowbank in Matsugane runs afoul of Hiraki, who accidentally runs him over, killing the crook. While the thief's wife and partner in crime tries to figure out what became of her husband and their ill-gotten gains, Hiraki struggles to hide the fatal accident from his brother. Meanwhile, as the unknowing widow spends more time in Matsugane, she discovers the town is a hotbed of eccentrics, many with strange and sinister sexual appetites. Matsugane ransha jiken (aka The Matsugane Potshot Affair received its world premiere at the 2006 Tokyo Film Festival.
