Audience Reviews for The Mind Snatchers
I give The Mind Snatcher three stars. I feel it probably should be two because it is not a very good view and has a poor plot. The problem is the film has Christopher Walken in it and some good dialogue here and there, so I can't bring myself to downrate it.
Also known as The Happiness Cage, which is the name of the play upon which it was based, this is the story of remote medical clinic where the military performs experimental brain surgery on unbalanced soldiers, ostensibly to find a cure for schizophrenia. Christopher Walken stars (in his first leading role) as a fiercely intelligent, suspicious, young soldier who finds himself imprisoned in the clinic; Ronny Cox plays a dumb hick who is in the same predicament; and Joss Ackland plays the ambivalent doctor. The cast is uniformly excellent, even if the film is sometimes a little stagy. It's a lot like a subdued version of A Clockwork Orange.
excellent film, superbly conceived. walken is outstanding in this little-known role. (note: this film is duplicate-listed on flixster as 'mind-snatchers')
