Thomas V @TomVee 6d Anthony Mann and Jimmy Stewart team up again in yet another grim tale of shitty people doing shitty things out of desperation, greed, and bitterness. But pictures can be fun even when there's no one to root for. What we still have is a gripping story of the misadventures of a bounty hunter with a big chip on his shoulder, the unlikely and untrustworthy group thrown together around him, and a cunning, manipulative villain well played by Robert Ryan. Lots of stunning Technicolor vistas, plenty of action, and some twists and turns along the way make it fun and never dull. It fell apart a little at the end, but that didn't spoil it for me.
