For all its opulence and preciousness, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is devoid of any depth or originality.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is a lot. And none of it is good.

Despite the eye-popping sets, magnificent costumes, beautiful music and stunning ballet in this Disney extravaganza, this story just doesn't ring true.

A few song and dance numbers would have livened things up and could have turned this dull excursion into a fun sing-along like "Labyrinth" (1986). No such luck.

Just a little too mediocre and a little too generic to find its audience.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms might be visually beautiful, but the film's story falls apart, and the characters are uninteresting with murky motivations.

The bookend piece to Disney's equally disappointing A Wrinkle in Time, here's another adaptation of a beloved and timeless classic that loses its essence in translation.
February 1, 2019
Even the best cast can't compensate for a plot that feels so recycled.
