Movie Info

Convinced that a recently burned-down structure harbors ghosts, young Matthew Mackay and Siluck Saysanasy decide to investigate the ruins. In true "urban legend" fashion, what Mackay sees inside the structure causes him to go bald on the spot! His distress is mollified when a pair of friendly ghosts whip up a "peanut butter solution" that will ostensibly restore his hair. So hirsute does Mackay become that he is kidnapped by a paint-brush manufacturer.

Audience Reviews for The Peanut Butter Solution

This movie creeped me the fuck out as a kid. I haven't seen it in twenty years, but I'll never forget it. Unfortunately it seems I'm never gonna see it again. A fact that makes me sad. I mean it was just too fuckin' weird. I wasn't sure if it was just me, until it came up in conversation. As soon as the title was spoken those who had seen it had pretty much the same reaction, that it was fucked up. If anyone out there knows a way for me to relive this traumatic event from my childhood again, I beg you, please help me.

A kid loses his hair from a frightful shock, but some grateful ghosts give him a secret recipe for regrowing it; complications ensure when he doesn't follow the formula exactly. Kids who saw this in the 80s never forget it, since its extremely odd and frightening to children; adults seeing it for the first time may notice that it's not very well acted or directed, but the fairy-tale style story is well done and keeps your interest. Not available on DVD (probably has something to do with a pre-fame Celine Dion's lame contributions to the soundtrack). It was easy to find a very cheap VHS copy on Ebay.

A goofy kids' movie. It feels very Canadian. Movie Central used to play it to death. A boy, his friends, and family get into some silly trouble with Peanut Butter. The youngin's would like it; not I.
