Audience Reviews for The Possession of David O'Reilly

Here's another personal haunting film in the vein of "Insidious" that tops that one in almost every way. It's got an even smaller budget, but don't let that deter you. Also, don't let RT's summary fool you, as it's not a "-umentary" of any kind. If you like discovering unsung, creepy flicks (think Session 9), check this one out. It's available on Netflix Instant.

It had some scary parts in it, but the rest really made no sense. I thought it was going somewhere with the plot and then it just changed completly with no sense of logic. Afterwords you may find yourself asking what the hell did I just watch???

If your simply looking for a few late night scares The Possession of David O'Reilly dishes out the goods. The is a film wont win you over with its story or its depth,to tell you the truth it doesent have much of eather. Its a disappointment, a major downfall but not a killer blow. This is because the film bounces back and earns its strips elswhere. This films atmoshpere and shocks really save it from its demise. The shallow story actually really works to its advatage and helps the film set its ominous tone.We never figure out why, who, where and so on witch along with the feeling panic helps the film be that much more scary.Lets face it,people are afraid of the unkown especially when we know its something that we should be afraid of.This and its ominous tone really works wonders for the film, making use feel paranoid and keeps use anticipating what might be lurking in the dark.Thats another way this film gets under our skin. The thought about something evil right next to use, watching use when we cant see it...Now thats scary.Thats what this film does,it gets into our head and under our skin. Its nothing more than a late night creap fest. The Possession of David O'Reilly is not exactly a good film but it packs just enough skin scrawling scares to be an effictive horror film.
