Though there are flashes of irreverent brilliance, the story is haphazard, the characters are unlikable, and the overall experience is akin to a film school project that values the inside joke over the outside result.
Everybody's favourite multi-jawed dreadlocked alien monster is back for a fun, throwaway action splurge. With a large dollop of humour, the film plays like the latest sequel in the Predator series rather than as any attempt to makeover the formula.
Even when The Predator isn't going out of its way to be unbelievably insensitive to seemingly anyone with a physical or intellectual disability, it is mind-numbingly stupid to the point of being incoherent. Shane Black might not be built for 2018.
