After ten years in New York pursuing an art career, 30-year-old graffiti artist Lorenzo 'Lencho' Aguilar finds himself back in his native Guatemala. Instead of pulsing with freewheeling energy, it sags under its earnest polemics.
As far as agitprop goes, The Return of Lencho is not totally generic, but its subject is mostly undistinguished.
A raw and pulsating take on the brute facts of repression in Guatemala that lives on after the dictatorship of the 1980s was dismantled from the point of view of a young artist--both the main character and the identity of the director.
