Performances are generically earnest, which is the most that can be expected with such an anodyne script where broadly-drawn characters like Kessler are over-the-top in their brutish behavior.

What is the source of the romanticization and nostalgia? ...It is a longing that is especially evident in mainstream films like "The Silent Revolution," for simpler days, when it was possible to distinguish between the good guys and the bad guys.

This is a solid, good-looking piece of filmmaking which is elevated by a clutch of strong performances from the young cast.
