Movie Info

Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy are lowly French peasants who dream of greatness as members of the musketeers. Though they are rejected by that elite unit, conniving Pete hires them to "protect" Princess Minnie Mouse, believing their incompetence will make it easier for him to usurp the throne. Naturally, Minnie is instantly smitten with Mickey. And though the trio is a bit overzealous at first, they work together to uncover and foil Pete's nefarious plot.

I'm giving this a higher rating than it really deserves, but even though it is objectively bad it's pretty harmless. If you have little kids, they'll like it fine and it works just fine for that purpose. My issue with that is though that Mickey has always had kind of an all-ages appeal. Besides the Disney Junior stuff with Mickey which is explicitly targeted to preschoolers, most things with Mickey are capable of entertaining kids just as much as adults. This however, is a direct-to-dvd pandering piece for kids in every way. It's not very imaginative, the jokes are all in your face and obvious, and the songs are atrocious. Oh yeah the songs, they're all public domain music with different lyrics put in. It's so incredibly lazy and just painfully to watch whenever they start singing. All that said, it's still our favorite Disney trio, and they keep to their roles and are charming enough. Just barely though. It's so lazy and pandering it only just barely works off the charm of Mickey and crew. But hey, that's a lot of charm to work with. Kids will probably like it fine, everyone else can skip it.

Silly and perhaps doesnt do the source material justice, but kids won't notice.

It's all for fun in the animated adventure Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers. Inspired by the Alexandre Dumas novel, wannabe musketeers Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are given a chance to prove themselves when they're assigned to guard Princess Minnie. The film is focuses more on gags than story, but that's to be expected from what is essentially an extended cartoon sketch. The classic Disney characters are used quite well, and include Pete, Daisy, Clarabelle Cow, and the Beagle Boys. Yet sticking to formula also results in a lot of predictable jokes and comedy routines. While Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers has some charm to it, it doesn't really aspire to much.

Such a disappointment, pretty predictable, offer very little charm, there was nothing memorable either.
