01/19/2019 I love documentaries like this, a documentary that will let a child not speak as heâ(TM)s too camera shy for about two minutes and its true, you can be happy on fuck all See more 02/22/2018 This was the kind of documentary that kept you watching through the credits, just to hear/read the snippets of conversation. Unlike others who have reviewed this film, I don't see it as a 'harrowing' treatise on poverty; I see this is a continuing narrative on the past few thousand years when people worked (and still work) the land and traders brought them things that were novel and wanted and from which traders made a profit. People do this every day in the urban world. What I found valuable about it was the refreshing nature of the short film; this is a world most don't see every day. I especially loved to see the faces of the children made happy by what they were seeing; it reminded me of the ice cream truck that comes to our neighborhood and asks for green currency instead of brown. Very well done. See more 02/21/2018 The poverty is palpable. Definitely worth watching, generall speaking peopel in the USA have not experienced real poverty, but it's a reality in some countries. See more 02/13/2018 Gorgeous film. Hypnotic. In less than 25 minutes, this movie seamlessly introduces a myriad of characters, worlds, and little dramas, all revolving around the knick-knacks sold by a traveling salesman. A peddler who drives an old truck through the rural mountain villages of Georgia, trading used boots, shawls, whatever he has bought to bring to these tiny hamlets, trading them for potatoes. It's not "small" except in time - it's a big movie that touches on the constraints and joys of childhood, gender, aging, and relations between men and women. Without ever getting portentious or heavy. At 12 minutes in there is a cinematic shot of a woman coming over a hill that I will remember always - so beautiful. It also captures how the "things' we crave in purchases are lights into the recesses of our desire and our imagination. What an incredible film. Reminds me of the work of the Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami. See more 02/12/2018 Sensitive, realistic, beautiful. Such a work of art at the photography! See more Read all reviews
