Movie Info

This British documentary, directed and written by Adam Simon, presents a fascinating chronicle of one of Hollywood's most illustrious writer/directors, Sam Fuller, now in his eighties. Tim Robbins narrates and interviews the cigar-puffing, tough old filmmaker Fuller in Paris, the city where he lived for 13 years before returning to the US in the mid-1990s. Fuller describes the three primary phases of his professional life as a newspaperman, a warrior and as a filmmaker. Three contemporary filmmakers, Martin Scorcese, Jim Jarmusch and Quentin Tarantino describe the ways in which Fuller's work influences their own.

Should be shown to any young filmmaker to help understand Fuller's cinematic influence. Tarantino, Scorsese, Jarmusch and Fuller himself all elaborate on what made him such a unique artist.
