Charlie rescues a kidnapped and abused woman from Gypsies, and the two seem to be falling in love until a rival and her parents arrive. As she starts to leave with the rival, she realizes her heart belongs to Charlie.

    Somewhat humorous. I find that a lot of Chaplin's earlier films were too similar to each other, and thus became pretty generic. This one kind of reminded me of his later film The Circus (which is much better than this).

    The latter part of this story shows Charlie Chaplin in a new role, and he handles it well in spite of the necessity of being as funny as possible. Chaplin as of old, with a leaven of serious acting that is well done. In the role of an itinerant violinist who does some agile antics in competition with a German street band, and who follows it with a series of love misadventures in a gypsy camp.
