See more Marco L @decatur555 3 days ago An acceptable but uneven Netflix thriller that has the cast, atmosphere and premise to be much stronger than it is. A missing child, a widowed father, an estranged grandfather, an old serial-killer case and a shadow returning from the past should create something truly disturbing. Instead, the film works in stretches but often feels too conventional and predigested. Adam Scott brings real fragility, Robert De Niro adds weight with little effort, and Michael Keaton and Michelle Monaghan help elevate material that might otherwise feel forgettable. The father-son wounds are more interesting than the mystery itself, which relies on familiar psychological-thriller devices: creepy houses, inherited trauma, secrets, suspects and twists. It has a certain old-school 90s thriller charm and is watchable enough, but it rarely surprises, scares or cuts deeply. A correct, dark, mildly tense film, enjoyable for one sitting but less memorable than its premise and cast deserved. See more Wink D @RT22905158 4 days ago I didn’t go into this movie expecting anything brand new from any of the screenwriter or the actors or the director. I did expect just a little bit more in terms of tension so in that the director failed. Overall, it was a good creepy movie. In the end, there were a couple of reveals that were expected, and yet the impact was not made as as well as as you would expect in a movie where it’s generally, those kinds of reveals are unexpected or you expect something different and then there’s a twist in this case there was one twist at the end involving Michael Keaton. Overall, it was probably the most boring suspense thriller I’ve ever watched. However, the cast was amazing. See more Marlene B @Marlbeau 5 days ago Most of the cast was terrific. Michael Keaton and Adam Scott were wonderful in their roles. I think Robert De Niro should have been recast. He was flat and his usual character which made it horrible to try to get into.
