Movie Info

Richard is a L.A. used car salesman on a quest to find the true meaning of his life. When he turns over his car lot to his inept assistants, he begins to write his first screenplay -- a woeful tale about a truck driver who runs over a little girl and gets shot to death trying to outrun the law. When Mammoth Pictures shows interest in the script, he must scramble to get it made, enlisting an assortment of oddball characters, including his washed-up, ex-filmmaker father, his lustful stepsister and his pregnant secretary, as his crew.

A cool, offbeat elegy for old school noir... a time warp Get Shorty with the experimental ethos of a student film and the studied composition of a [loving] homage.

Audience Reviews for The Woman Chaser

Can you make an amazing, frenetic noir picture on a seriously tiny budget that's worth watching? Robison Devor can, I guess.

Firstly -there is an excellent blog written here so I wont try to top that. This film is so very underrated. It would not surprise me if it gets some much needed attention in the future. Every time I see it I get sucked in to the story characters and the music. If you like a good old hollywood film-noir style movie this is for you. Favorite quotes "kiss goodnight?" "no thanks I kiss to wetly" or "why did they attack me?" "because you tried to help him tha's why". Now that I think of it this movie has the same feel as Sunset Blvd.

No movie like it out there. Some Ed Wood, some Coen brothers, a lot of film-noir, maybe even a sliver of Godard. But this Robinson Devor guy made a weird tale about a seemingly deadpan but deep-down disturbed car salesman who tries his hand at making a film into a real curio.
