Irene Dunne is very good anchoring this comedy about a would-be racy novelist, and her opposite pairing with Melvyn Douglas adds to the screwball humor. Particularly silly in light of what people find scandalous or shocking by today's moral standards, but that almost makes the film more charming in a way.

A cute film about the impact of the writing of racy novel on a small town and the town's reaction to the surprising author. Little more than cute though.

One of the most brilliant screwball comedies to come out of the 1930s. It more than holds its own up against the likes of "My Man Godfrey" and "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town."

OK, now I'm going old school on you a$$, this film is a true classic. It is considered one of the great Screwball comedies, and it lives up to it's hype. It is a wonderful film, filled with great characters, situations, and comedy. The actors are superb, and Irene Dunne proves she wasn't only a dramatic actress but a true comedy icon. I can't recommend this film enough. I t is fantastic, and has a great ending. Heartfelt, and alive. even to this day. well that's that jack so watch, and thank me later haha

Picks up in the second half when Theodora actually does what the title promises, but like too many screwball comedies the primary characteristic of the love interest here is "predatory".

Eh, not my favorite 1930's screwball comedy. The best part was when the aunts slammed the back doors, shattering the glass and nearly bisecting the cat in the process.

Delightful classic screwball comedy from 1936, a great year for films and this movie adds to the greatness of that year. Irene Dunne is brilliant, she has such a great knack for comedy. Melvyn Douglas is in fine form and it has a wonderful supporting cast. Well written, excellent direction by Richard Bolesalawski. First rate in all ways. Very funny.

A charming screwball comedy. Irene Dunne and Thomas Mitchell are superb and Melvyn Douglas is no slouch either. It opens strong, but drags a lot in the middle, only to pick up in the third act. It may not be the best screwball comedy, but to fans of the genre it's definitely worth a watch.

Theodora Goes Wild is a wonderful screwball romance. Irene Dunne is delightful. She was always so much better and more interesting in screwball comedy than she was in dramas. She and Melvyn Douglas have good chemistry. The movie is a very good and hilarious romance.

Different and exotic in terms of the production for this not so comic 1930's comedy. It could even be described as sickly-sweet. The let down is the story, both difficult and unassuming, it also has one of the most shallow of final scenes that will be scorned by most.

Really not that funny until she finally lets loose with only about a half hour to go-the villagers were also good.

One of the most delightful screwball comedies and one of the most underrated for many years. Irene Dunne gives an Oscar-nominated performance which is truely one of her best. And Melvyn Douglas is a perfect match.

here is an unhappy accident. dunne looks like she's about to play norma desmond in 'sunset boulevard' instead of the proper organ-playing woman with a heart of gold that she is. it's the plot that takes her on a whirlwind trip as her alter ego, romantic novelist caroline adams. but it also takes her to melvyn douglas--not a bad trip for 1936.
