Movie Info

After her home is burglarized, a married woman finds that the diary containing her sexual fantasies has been stolen. She doesn't put two and two together when an attractive man suddenly enters her life and becomes the man of her dreams. The thief's secret info works for awhile, and the woman is tricked into becoming a part of his sexual game-playing, but after quite a bit of drama, she and hubby are back in each others arms. ~ Kristie Hassen, Rovi

This is a dreary, dull and altogether grating film, one that's as derivative and simple as it is just plain boring.

Audience Reviews for Thief Of Hearts

Very 80s. Our heroine chooses sex then chooses love but can't fully reject her thief lover. Well that is a mess of cliches. Anyway, it was not great but I liked it.

★★1/2 (out of four) There are some interesting things here, but none of them evolve into what would make a good and coherent story ring true. The story has potential. A burglar, played by Steven Bauer breaks into an affluent San Francisco home. One of the items stolen is the diary of the woman who lives there. Later he reads it and becomes intrigued with her, eventually seeking her out and starting an affair, all along she is unaware that he is the thief. I'll start with the things that don't work. The film is detached, never reaching a core. Part of the problem is that Barbara Williams in the lead never exudes any real warmth, failing to connect with the audience. The film works best when it deals with the emotions of the heart. The plot throws ion silly thriller-type strands that never take off. There are a few good things, however. First is Steven Bauer. He is perfectly cast as the charming and handsome burglar. He struts across the screen like a young Marlon Brando with an undeniable charm. It's to bad he didn't find many great parts for his talents, only "Scarface" and "Traffic" and "How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer" come to mind. It's his film and he almost makes it work. I also like the idea of presenting a female character who acts on her inner desires and sensuous needs. We've seen this in many male characters, but not explored as often with women. I wish this had been more what the film was about.

I had a mad crush on Steven Bauer who stars in this suspense film. It is also has CSI Miami, lead star-red det. Haratio??(sp) in it. It was one of his first movies. I liked it, ok!
