Usually not my particular taste but the fluidity of the film works so well, it's hard to not like this film

Story/Screenplay: (3/5) It's one of those stories where everyone's individual storyline is connected to someone else's, until by the end of the film all the connections come around in a circle and you're back to the starting storyline. It's been done before with other films, but done better. This one is really low-key and lacks the drama that could drive the story or engage the viewer. Duration/Tempo: (3/5) At 1 hour and 49 minutes, it's an average length movie that felt about the same. There weren't any spots that were slower than others, but the pacing in general was on the slow side. Cast & Crew: (3.5/5) Solid performances across the board, but special mention goes out to Cameron Diaz and Holly Hunter. Summary: (3/5) The cast was good, but the story was middling and the film could have picked up the pace a bit. Overall, a thumbs down.

I did not get the upper gradation or vignette that he put on many scenes. It added nothing but distraction. Not exactly subtle. Kind of like "instant doom look."

05/31/15 five interconnecting stories deal with dramatic developments in the lives of several women. In the first, a doctor glenn close feels her life may change after she receives a tarot card reading.

One of these all female star cast for a film exploring the femininity through different characters, their lives & problems. it's really well shot, well written & perfectly acted by a bunch of remarkable actresses.

I usually love interweaving movies - movies where the main characters show up in each other's story lines. This one is fine, and the acting is great - but I didn't really get attached to any of the characters.

Well acted, but depressing as hell. What is the point of a movie like this? To make the audience sad? Who needs that? And what idiot movie producers, directors, and screenplay writers think we want that? And what were critics thinking when they gave it such a high rating? Who is so happy that they need a downer of a slow-paced movie like this?

This attempt at a female collective effort doesn't work as well as other films in the genre but some of the performances really stand out..in particular the ever wonderful Glenn Close.
