In This is the Tom Green Documentary, Green considers the legacy of his in-your-face comedy... but also how his often goofy vision of entertainment predicted and influenced the outrageousness-comes-standard, self-as-star tenets of today’s social media. Go to Full Review

Nicky P @Nickeeeeeeeeee Jul 12 This seems to be a thing now... make a doc about yourself- but it's a BAD idea because the result is boring (this goes for the Jayne Mansfield doc too) and no one wants to watch an old actor self-pleasure themselves for 90 minutes. It's why biographies can be interesting whereas autobiographies are mainly boring self-congratulatory cream corn (mush). I could not make it to the end. You should have listened to your mom, Tom... she basically told you not to do an auto-documentary. See more Harrison B @emailaddress Jun 7 So inspiring. Tom pushes the viewer to think of new ideas like he always did. A perfect summary of his career, focusing on all the truly brilliant stuff he did. And I laughed out loud multiple times. Tom, I'm really grateful for the amazing work you've put out, and I'm sorry for the time I asked you why you weren't pushing boundaries in your standup anymore. I get it now. Who could come back from cancer the same person? See more Birithivy Y Mar 16 This Is The Tom Green Documentary - 8/10. Tom Green is going through a retrospective year in 2025 I guess. The comedian who helped push shock comedy directs his own documentary, and surprisingly, its a very interesting one. I always wondered what the come up for a comedian of his nature would be. Tom Green has lived many different lives through his journey to fame, and I barely knew about his abilities when I was younger. Seeing this made me understand that you can’t judge him by the cover of his ridiculous humour. He’s actually a pretty talented individual. Who would have known he was a Juno nominated rapper before he became a comedic staple? Or the fact that he had a show before his infamous Tom Green show? Pretty interesting doc about a Canadian legend. He wasn’t my cup of tea, but I respect the hustle and grind to get to where he is today! See more Chris V 02/27/2025 Even as a fan of Tom Green earlier in his career, this self produced documentary is too self promotional/indulgent for my tastes. See more Ann H 02/19/2025 I also watched and loved Tom Green's show when he first started in Ottawa. It was hilariously outrageous and funny to see this goofy character who was an a-typical crazy manchild coming up with stunts that every bro-manchild would love to do to disrupt any status quo. Sadly, by the time he got noticed and moved to the US, Green was too old to keep doing these asinine stunts and because fundamentally he was at that point so obsessed with getting US success, the fun turned to desperation played out through Green's self-absorption. His 'marriage' to Drew Barrymore was a joke. His schtick as a hormonal outlandish kid, was long behind him when he eventually sold out to himself and moved to the U.S. His 'marriage' to Drew Barrymore was his biggest joke down there and viewed as a grasping attempt at making it through a Hollywood marriage connection. Green now claims to be the father of the podcast in this promo-mentary. His status with the same bros now morphing into being a seer into the future of the internet. Nah. In looking back at his work now as a totally formed adult, I plainly see how Green just sucked all the oxygen from the room no matter who his guests or sidekicks were. He dd it in Ottawa and even moreso in the U.S. Now he does the same in this promo-mentary about himself, done by himself, and is so self-indulgent that in his middle age, he still longs for his 15 minutes....which he refuses to see those 15 minutes are dead and gone. That's why documentaries, true documentaries are done by someone besides the person it is about. But as usual Green is blind and stuck like so many self-absorbed, nostalgic middle-agers are. He has come full circle now that he is back in Ottawa. Hopefully, now, Tom Green will finally grow up. See more Allen S 02/14/2025 I grew up in the 90s and remember MTV was definitely the channel to watch for entertainment. It was fun to watch Tom Green tell it how it was. The Documentary was well written and worth the watch. See more Read all reviews
