Before Thor: Ragnarok, I wasn't checking for another Thor film. Post-Ragnarok, you can give me as many Thor sequels as you want...just make sure Taika Watiti is at the helm, and Tessa Thompson is (drunkenly) lurking somewhere on-screen.

Ragnarok gives the genre a much-needed injection of humour and eccentric flair and I think it's not an exaggeration to say that Taika Waititi has saved a superhero.

Going into the film, I was very concerned about the comedy being overbearing. Waititi created a perfect blend of both drama and humor that essentially made the movie even more so entertaining.

I was never not entertained and it's constantly funny, it's just a shame that the jokey atmosphere managed to make its way into the more dramatic and poignant scenes.

Visually spectacular, action-packed, enormously entertaining, and genuinely hilarious, Thor: Ragnarok never takes itself too seriously, and therein lies its brilliance.
