My nomination of worst movie of the year. Was high hopes to see trademark Tom and Jerry beating the shit out of each other - instead most of the movie was taken by some stupid chinese / demigod characters incoherently screaming at each other. Totally uncomprehensible plot even for adults. Most viewers left cinema before it was finished🤮🤮🤮 Tom and Jerry take maybe less than 10 % of screentime as third grade characters lost somewhere in stupid trademark chinese mythical anime mayhem probably understandable only to some if they are from China themselves. See more Bram S @RedDuelist May 27 Watched in cinema with my oldest; for me it wasn't that spectacular. I was a big Tom & Jerry fan as a kid, but this was like a Disneyfied episode where they introduced characters as if we would know them or if they mattered and would return in other movies. My kid thought it was fun, but there was a lot happening at all times with weird cuts that gave characters backstories that didn't really matter or make sense. Much of the plot was incomprehensible, and what could be comprehended was of no significance. Would have made little more sense if narrated in Mandarin. The film is made by a Chinese company, with Chinese writer and cartoon style; no logical connection between Tom and Jerry and the Chinese 'story' they claim to be telling. Utterly pointless, and lacking in any kind of humour or style normally associated with T&J. Happily I was only charged £4.99 per ticket to see it, but in retrospect I would have willingly paid twice the amount to have been spared the experience and used my time more wisely. See more Nope N @Nope11111 May 3 The Movie did not live up to our expectations.... The theme could have been really cool, but Tom and Jerry did not really fit in. The jokes were sadly mediocre at best and made the movie feel like a cheap attempt to get money. There were some uppertunities for good comedy in there, but they were not used and sadly just tossed aside. For example the celestial master was funny when he mistook the Phoenix master for someone else, but this funny situation was replaced with a joke about the Cookie melting and the "funny" faces the Phoenix master was making. The animation style was beautiful for the background and the scenic views but the characters lost their original charm of the sketched/drawn style. Due to this much of the more physical jokes, like the electrocutions or the bow in Jerry's tail, also did not work. It made the characters seem as if they were made out of rubber. The animation of jades choreography and assesuas was very pretty and interesting. See more Read all reviews
