In this new film, Jack Ryan is reluctantly thrust back into the world of espionage when an international covert mission unravels a deadly conspiracy, forcing him to confront a rogue black-ops unit, and the clock is ticking. Operating in real time with lives on the line and the threat escalating at every turn, Jack reunites with battle-tested CIA operative Mike November (Michael Kelly) and former CIA boss James Greer (Wendell Pierce), their combined experience the only edge they have against an enemy who knows their every move. Backed by an unlikely new partner -- razor-sharp MI6 officer Emma Marlowe (Sienna Miller) -- Jack and the team navigate a treacherous web of betrayal, facing a past they thought was long put to rest -- making this the most personal, high-stakes mission any of them have ever faced.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Plowing through a routine globe-trotting with mechanical efficiency but little else, Jack Ryan: Ghost War reduces John Krasinski's once-compelling CIA operative to a personality-free action cipher.

Krasinski executive produced and co-wrote the screenplay but doesn’t seem to have been very interested in character development or meaningful dialogue. Go to Full Review

[Krasinski] makes you care whether Ryan can get out of pickle after pickle, enough to make you wish there will be another Ryan standalone film in the future. Go to Full Review

John Krasinski can do anything, except turn the livewire CIA operative he played for four TV seasons into something other than a pale shadow of his former self trying to pass muster in an ill-conceived two-hour movie. Go to Full Review

Krasinski is a good action star but he's a little bland here due to writing, producing, starring, and basically attempting to be a Jack Ryan of all trades. Go to Full Review

A routine return for Jack Ryan and friends, as a new conspiracy pulls him out of civilian life, but this globe-trotting actioner is more functional than fun Go to Full Review

Jay W @RT52162311 1d It can be difficult faithfully adapting Tom Clancy's work. So many espionage movies have taken inspiration from him that by the time something gets adapted, it feels derivative. The villains are forgettable. The plot is predictable. And the story is nothing new. Although this isn't bringing anything new to the table, it is still a well-shot, well-acted piece of entertainment that does its job just fine and doesn’t over stay its welcome. Mike November is the MVP, more of that guy in the future. See more Pompous M @RT47734883 1d It fails to capitvate or thrill. The plot as such is threadbare, at times deridative and ultimately unconvincing. Sienna Miller enjoys herself between smoking cigarettes.Douglas Hodge knew his work would be over in 5 minutes of screentime. He had the right idea. Dubai is best avoided. See more Stephen C @bob25009 2d Success in 1.75 hours. See more I do not C @sedtrguyhiifdhxfg 3d Extremely stupid and grating. See more Andrei D @RT74856639 4d The story is pretty dumb and clearly cut down from the size of a series to a movie, the acting is disinterested and somehow funny; Clancy stuff needs to be smarter and more grandiose to work See more Johnny D @RT45242996 4d I swear Tom Clancy used to write good books, but this movie makes me wonder if I just thought a boring movie must be a good movie. Either way this movie is non-sensical and makes you wonder how on Earth Jack Ryan got promoted. Even the one Ben Afleck did is better than this thing. Don’t watch. I can’t even think of a scenario where you might think there’s a good reason to watch it. See more Read all reviews
