Movie Info

An irresistible demon with the power of limitless regeneration returns to torment her terrified victims time and again in director Ataru Oikawa's horrific adaptation of Junji Ito's popular manga. To the unknowing eye Tomie looks like your average schoolgirl; youthful, beautiful, and with a mesmerizing smile that is impossible to resist. When Tomie transfers to a new high school and the students realize just how evil her beauty really is, they cut off her right ear. Driven to insanity by the sight of the ear scurrying through the grass in an attempt to regenerate, the boys subsequently push Tomie off of a cliff and dismember her body to ensure she can never return. Little do they know the power of this deceptively pretty devil though, and when Tomie shows up at school the following day mocking the boys for their failed effort, the mere sight of the girl sends her sadistic classmates into a tail-spin of insanity. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Audience Reviews for Tomie: Beginning

OK, but not exceptional, origin story for Junji Ito's demonic schoolgirl Tomie. Tomie causes men to fall in love w/ her, then want to kill themselves / each other / her. Not the strongest in the series. Probably best for fans of the manga and/or the films.
