In this film, Steve Cochran plays an ex-convict who thinks he killed a man. He takes it on the lam with Ruth Roman, a taxi dancer whose boyfriend is the supposed murder victim. The two marry and hope to start over in California, but society just won't let them.

I dig watching Ruth Roman's hard nosed dance hall girl slowly softening for the lug she finds herself saddled with, even if the film goes a bit melodramatic in the middle. Worth a rental.
