I loved it for what it was. The oufits, hairdoos, and boobs were enough for me.

What could be scarier than a deformed, crazy killer lurking in the underground caves of a foggy deserted isle, picking off a group of people (who went there to search for some old treasure) one by one? Theoretically, this sounds like a great recipe for horror. And yet, despite the fact that this film is VERY explicit in terms of gore and nudity (male and female) for an early-70's release, it is visually sub-par, and because it doesn't have a single even remotely interesting character (the women are portrayed as promiscuous sluts), the viewer has nothing to do but sit there and wait for most of the cast members to get chopped up. In a word, boring.

This film starts out nicely with a mad woman trying to remember what happened to her friends on Snape Island. One friend was found impaled with a pure gold Phoenician spear which leads a group of archeologists to the island. While the special effects are laughable, the atmosphere and camera work are a notch above standard B-movie fare. Unfortunately, the film breaks down in the third act with an ending everyone saw coming and some ridiculous "monsters." Spend your time on something better.

It's a pretty good grindhouse film with lots of blood and gratuitous nudity. And outside of that it even starts off pretty good with a discovery of a bunch of dead bodies and what happened. However, it quickly jettisons the more interesting plotline for the real plot! A bunch of museum people think that's there's lot of treasure on the evil island with the evil tower and the filler plot is barely mentioned again.

But it will scratch any Grindhouse itch you might have.

It had some moments, but the majority was boring and lame. I have heard that this movie is known for creating a bridge between the classic gothic horror movie and the slasher film, but I've seen it done better from the same period. Pretty unmemorable really.

A bad movie, yet the pacing made it almost watchable. All the parts were bad but maybe the idiotic violence helped it a little in the end.

AKA Beyond The Fog

Hilariously incompetent and set-bound British slasher made at Shepperton. Features fashion victims getting theirs in various and sundry ways in, around and below what turns out to be an improbably combustible lighthouse.

Scary and atmospheric, with a keen eye for detail that you rarely ever get in movies of this genre. It's a shame that the main villain doesn't look that terrifying, but there's enough here to recommend that it hardly matters.

Tower of Evil aka Horror of Snape Island is a good old fashioned slasher movie that features plenty of sex and gore. The script is quite silly and the acting is not that good either, its a bit wooden but this just adds to its charm.

The movie is set on an isolated island called Snape Island. One day two sailors visit the island and discover three dead teenagers and one traumatized naked female survivor who accidently stabs to death one of the sailors thinking he is the crazed killer who slaughtered her friends. The story then leaps forward to a hospital facility where we see the surviving girl who can not speak or move due to mental problems, she has been charged with murdering her friends. The girls parents then hire a private detective to go to the island to see if someone else could be behind the murders,he,the detective,is joined by an archaeological party who are looking for Phoenecian treasure. Once on the island they are killed one by one by an unknown killer.

Visually it looks cheap. Its a so bad its good kind of movie. One of the sets looks like it was made by a Blue Peter presenter but its a must see for true horror fans.

a not very good horror film which to be fair doesn't skimp on blood and boobs but fails miserably to generate any tension or suspense. Very disappointing

You couldn't find anything worse, yet hilarious at the same time.

Shown on BBC2 at 2 am a few weeks back, I took it as being an old classic, that just wont fit in the demand of shallow action films of today. How wrong was I, it is one of the most inept films you could ever see, even though is hilarious for its woefullness. Plan 9 from Outer Space has a competitor. I recommend it to anyone who wish to be a director, so you can learn so much from this, how 'not' to make a film like this.

While it is by no means a classic, it does go someway to have a chilling atmosphere and look. The story is poor though and the film is dragged out too much, seemingly to insert a few naked scenes that are wholly unnecesary. Its best asset though is the editing, which is clearly more imaginatve than the directing.

Like a superannuated, sexed up Famous Five adventure but minus Timmy. At least Asquith doesn't survive. Really tedious 'horror' film with little to recommend it.

Even the lure of naked Euroflesh couldn't resuscitate this turkey. The horror, the horror indeed! I give it half a mark for managing to effectively market this tripe.

Instantly forgettable gothic chiller has a few original touches, but not enough to make it really entertaining. Repetitive and predictable, it fails to generate any real tension or suspense beyond the usual cliches of the genre.
