brilliant shots of outdoor mountain scenery, careful selcted matching greens and browns to fit Sylvia Sydney's gardrobe pallette. Too much of a melodrama at times yet Henry Fonda's performance saves the day.

Not nearly as much color as one would expect from a Technicolor film.

(1936) The Trail Of The Lonesome Pine

Somewhat historical, even though the story is totally fiction where the story centers on two warring families the Tollivers pitting against the Falins, until a young businessman (Fred MacMurray) wanted to build a railroad through their properties, even though they have an oath to become sworn enemies for life. A love story also blloms in the process, of course!

I mentioned above that it was somewhat historical even though the characters setting is totally fiction because of the historical practice of two families pointless sqaubles, all because it's part of their custom and tradition. Almost unimportant in terms of it's history since it's about a specific time that happened in American culture! my bad rating is the result of having a bad day and expecting to see a crowd pleaser! Well made but sad ending!
