It's laced with literate humor, and the directors cite N.C. Wyeth's illustrations for the 1911 Scribner's edition of Treasure Island as the inspiration for their marvelously detailed fantasy world.

"Treasure Planet" is unfortunately more like a Saturday morning cartoon, even with a running time of eighty or so minutes. It's no "Lilo & Stitch," but it's worth a matinee if only to see it; too bad there couldn't have been more to feel.
